The Civil War began on James Island on the morning of April 12, 1861, when Confederate forces at Fort Johnson fired on Union-occupied Fort Sumter. Both forts were located on the island's northern shore. --[whats a better place for a boys camp out than JAMES ISLAND?]--
They ate jambalaya
Told scary stories (or really just funny strange stories, like a man that turned into a rat? not sure of the details, as I wasn't there... just heard second hand) Saw fireflies for the first time, and stayed up really late. One of the funny things that happened on this trip was that Anson sat up in his bed in the middle of the night, raised his hand and said, "I'll do the dishes!" then laid back down and went to sleep. The next day they played at the beach bright and early.
Searched for treasures
Body Surfed
Ran away from waves
Walked on the beach
Boogy boarded
Played in the sand
Walked along the pier
Then headed to see the --[MAN STUFF]-- like these guns
They watched a video & took a tour of the battleship
These are the battleships "score cards" It shows what they have destroyed.
What about these babies?
How about these planes?
So cool! The boys were LOVING it! And so were the dads!
They also toured a submarine
Most of the gang that went camping, some had to head home after the beach
More playing around the fort
All the boys had a lot of fun, and so did the dads.
It was a great camp out!
